GeoDeck Featured in Two Building Products Industry Magazines

Thursday, December 03, 2009
Green Bay Decking and GeoDeck composite decking were recently featured in the November 2009 issue of two leading building industry publications, "The Merchant Magazine" and "Building Products Digest." In the three-page article "Decking Producers Double Down on Composites," which is featured in both magazines, a brief introduction, history, and brand comparison of composite decking is provided before finishing the article with an in-depth look at the past, present, and future of GeoDeck.

In an excerpt from the article, Green Bay Decking President Lanny Jass explains why the company invests heavily in independent testing to back its claim as the best overall composite solution in the industry: "We have always used third-party testing for our own products, but have recently expanded that to include third-party testing of all competitor products, as well. We believe that is important to give customers the best information to evaluate a product's long term performance for their application. We are currently working with multiple outside research agencies to test our boards and our competitors' boards."

The article further states that, "Demand for wood-plastic composite and plastic lumber will climb 10% a year through 2011 to $5.4 billion worldwide, forecast the Freedonia Group. Composites, however, will enjoy faster growth through 2011, posting gains of 14.3% annually to reach $2.6 billion. Biggest growth will come in decking, window/door components, and niche end uses (porches, site and leisure furniture)."

Statement Regarding 2005 Kadant Composites, LLC GeoDeck Recall

Thursday, September 03, 2009

Due to a manufacturing error made by a previous owner and manufacturer of GeoDeck, some GeoDeck composite decking and railing product manufactured between April 2002 and October 2003 has experienced premature oxidative degradation. The manufacturing error was isolated to product manufactured between April 2002 and October 2003.

Additional information regarding decking materials manufactured by Kadant Composites, LLC between April 2002 and October 2003 may be found on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website (www.cpsc.gov). That website advises homeowners to inspect their decks manufactured with these materials for signs of premature degradation that could pose a safety risk. Furthermore, homeowners with decks exhibiting signs of premature degradation should stop using these decks and arrange for repairs themselves, as the manufacturer is out of business.

GeoDeck composite decking and railing product manufactured before April 2002 and after October 2003 has continued to exhibit industry-leading performance and outstanding customer satisfaction. Since the isolated defects in 2002 and 2003, GeoDeck has continued to improve and innovate through extensive research and development, significant financial investment, rigorous testing, and constant process improvement.

As the owner of GeoDeck since May 2009, Green Bay Decking, LLC is proud to stand behind its eco-friendly, fade-resistant product line and 20-year limited warranty. However, Green Bay Decking is not responsible for composite decking and railing products manufactured by Kadant Composites, LLC or for warranty claims related to the 2005 product recall.

You can trust that all current GeoDeck composite decking and railing products are manufactured using the highest quality control standards, state-of-the-art quality testing equipment, and process monitoring techniques.
